1.4 Million Toyota Vehicles Added to Takata Recall

1.4 million additional Toyota vehicles have been recalled due to malfunctioning airbags.

About the Toyota Vehicle Recall

According to Reuters, Toyota has added 1.4 million cars, tucks, and SUVs to the growing recall of vehicles with possibly dangerous malfunctioning airbags.

The recalled Toyota vehicles have contain recalled Takata airbags, which can cause possible injury or death by deploying with too much force. The Takata airbag recall, resulting from pressure from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the declaration that many Takata products are defective, has become the largest automotive recall in U.S. history.

Takata has recalled 33.8 million of its airbags. The defective airbags have resulted in seven deaths and more than 100 injuries. Toyota’s expanded recall brings the total number of vehicles from Toyota and Lexus recalled in the United States to 2.9 million.

Description of Recalled Toyota Vehicles

The models affected by the new recall include the 2003 to 2007 models of the Corolla and Corolla Matrix, the 2005 and 2006 models of the Tundra pickup, the 2005 to 2007 models of the Sequoia SUV, and the 2003 to 2007 models of the Lexus SC430 convertible.

The recalled models were sold in the United States.
