About the Atascosa County Head-On Collision

According to the San Antonio Express-News, 57-year-old Miguel Alaquinez was killed when the 2006 Ford Taurus he was traveling in was struck head-on by a 2001 Ford F-150 just after 9 pm Sunday.

It is currently unknown whether Alaquinez was the driver or a passenger in the Taurus, but police noted that the vehicle was traveling north on FM 476 near Somerset when it appears the F-150 left its lane, crossed the center line, and struck the vehicle.

The driver of the F-150, Iginio Gutierrez-Martinez, 25, was transported from the scene to University Hospital where he was initially listed in critical condition. His condition later improved and he was listed in stable condition as of Monday.

Authorities have not commented on why Gutierrez-Martinez left his lane, nor have they indicated whether charges would be filed.
