Two teenage high schoolers were involved in a car crash in Hamilton Twp., and one has died due to injuries sustained during the accident.

About the Fatal Accident

According to Cincinnati's WLWT, Marissa Frederick, 16, and McKenzie Schooley, 16, were driving on McIntire road when Frederick lost control of her Honda Civic and crashed into the several trees.

Both teens were injured in the crash and had to be extracted. Frederick was taken to Miami Valley Hospital where she passed away due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Schooley suffered some broken bones but is expected to recover.

Frederick attended Little Miami High School – this is the second death in less than two years for the school.

Teenage Driving Statistics

  • According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), teenagers have crash rates three times those of drivers above 20 years of age.
  • Crash risks are highest for 16- and 17-year-olds.
  • The IIHS also noted young drivers' immaturity, alcohol, and texting increased the likelihood for accidents.
