Abi Reyes1 year ago

A 23-year-old man was killed Sunday morning in a fatal motorcycle accident near Redwater, Texas.

About the Redwater Motorcycle Accident

The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Zachary Levi Duncan who, according to a Texas DPS crash report, was traveling south on FM 3098 around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

During a left hand turn, Duncan veered of the right side of the road – this caused both Duncan and his passenger to slide along a ditch and across a county road until the driver struck a stop sign.

The passenger, 27-year-old Sabritha Michelle Sanford, was sent to Wadley Hospital with devastating injuries.

Duncan was pronounced dead at 7:08 a.m. His body was taken to Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office in Dallas, TX.

Motorcycle Safety

The following information was provided by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:

  • Motorcycles tend to be less stable and visible than cars. They also have high speed capabilities. This is dangerous because motorcycles do not provide riders the safety of an enclosed vehicle, making the rider more likely to be in a fatal accident.
  • Serious head injuries are common among fatally injured motorcyclists, making helmet use important.
  • A total of 4,381 motorcyclists died in crashes in 2013. Motorcycle deaths made up for 13 percent of all motor vehicle deaths in 2013.
