Destiny Baker3 years ago

One man is dead and two women are injured following a fourth-floor balcony collapse in Philadelphia late Saturday.

About the Philadelphia Balcony Collapse

  • Originally reported as a fire escape collapse, authorities have confirmed that it was in fact an apartment balcony that collapsed killing a young man.
  • According to the Washington Post, the 22-year-old man suffered severe head trauma and neck injuries during the fall, and was pronounced dead at an area hospital early Sunday.
  • Two women in their twenties were also involved in the accident, suffering broken bones in their backs. Both are listed in stable condition.
  • Officials suspect the three young adults were on the balcony smoking cigarettes when the accident occurred.  The Department of Licenses and Inspections have launched an investigation into the incident.
