A truck driver is dead and 23 train passengers were injured after a log truck collided with a passing train at a West Virginia railroad crossing.

  • The accident occurred Friday when a log truck ran passed crossing signals and collided with a passenger car of a passing sightseeing train.
  • The Huffington Post reports that two of the train’s passenger cars were overturned due to the collision injuring 23 passenger – 6 were listed in serious condition.
  • The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene as it took responders hours to free the man’s body from the wreckage.
  • The Durbin & Greenbrier Railroad train was carrying 63 passengers on a 6.5 hour, 88 mile round trip during which the train does not exceed 25 miles per hour.
