One person was killed and five others were hospitalized after three-vehicles collided on Brownfield Highway near Lubbock, Texas.

About the Fatal Lubbock Accident

According to KTRE, the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon when Chevy Silverado traveling south on Brownfield Highway rear ended a Dodge Durango that was stopped at a set of train tracks at the Farm Road 1585 intersection.

The impact of the initial collision forced the Durango on top of a flatbed trailer being pulled by another pickup that had been stopped in front of the Durango. The Silverado continued to travel an additional 50 feet, passing two other cars before coming to rest.

One of the three passengers in the Silverado was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the Durango passengers were taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Police have not determined the speed at which the Silverado was traveling leading up to the collision or if alcohol was a factor in the incident.
