1 Dead in El Paso Pedestrian Accident

Authorities in El Paso are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that left one man dead early Friday morning.

About the El Paso Pedestrian Accident

According to KFOX-TV, the man was fatally struck while walking on Alameda Avenue near Vocational Drive.

The woman driving the car who struck the unidentified pedestrian remained on the scene until authorities arrived and cooperated with police.

The department’s DWI unit was called to the scene and police do believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):

  • In 2013, 3,377 people lost their lives in auto accidents on Texas roadways. This marked a 1.05-percent decrease from the 3,413 deaths recorded in 2012.
  • 485 pedestrians and 48 pedalcyclists were killed in traffic collisions.
  • 1,089 deaths were linked to accidents in which a driver was under the influence of alcohol – 32.2 percent of all traffic fatalities recorded.
