One man was killed Tuesday afternoon when three tractor-trailers and a car collided along Interstate 20 roughly four miles east of Rayville, Louisiana.

Details of the Rayville Trucking Accident

According to the News Star, the accident occurred around 5:24 pm when an 18-wheeler traveling westbound on Interstate 20 struck another tractor-trailer driven by 52-year-old Nathanial Tomas, which had stopped due to traffic congestion.

The force from the initial impact sent Tomas’ truck into a 2014 Toyota Prius driven by Michael Jedynak, 55, which was then pushed into a third tractor-trailer driven by John Wright, 46.

Troopers reported that the wreck resulted in a fire that is believed to have contributed to the death of the driver of the first tractor-trailer. His identity has not been released.

Jednyak was rushed to St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe with moderate injuries – Wright and Thomas were uninjured in the incident.
