13-Year-Old Fatally Struck While Watching Soccer Game

A 13-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car while watching a soccer game in Silver Spring, Maryland Tuesday night.

Authorities Investigate Fatal Silver Spring Accident

“When I turned around, I see my daughter under the car, rolling under the car like four, five times. She was bleeding from the nose, from the mouth, from the ear… bleeding like crazy. And then she closed her eyes and that’s when she died.” – Wilburt Reyes as published by WJLA

According to WJLA, Deborah Roxana Reyes Casasola, 13, and Erundina Lopez, age unknown, were watching a soccer game Tuesday evening when they were struck by a 2008 Ford Escape.

The driver of the Escape was in the parking lot of Eastern Middle School when apparently the vehicle drove onto the curb.

According to Casasola’s father, who was coaching the soccer game, the young girl, was pinned beneath the vehicle. She died shortly after arriving to an area hospital. Lopez suffered a sprained

The occupants of the vehicle have refused to cooperate with investigators, Montgomery County officials are asking the public for any information they may have on the incident.

  • In 2012, there were 99 fatalities and 2,559 injuries involving pedestrians and car accidents.
  • There were 3 deaths involving pedestrians inside parking lots.
  • There were 258 crashes involving pedestrians between the ages of 10 and 15 years old.
  • The total number of female pedestrians involved in car accidents was 1,246.
