17-Month-Old Girl Bitten During Daycare
A 17-month-old girl was found bitten for the fifth time while at her daycare center.
Details of the Daycare Incident
According to ABC News, Sammy Salgado and his wife, Veronica Figueroa, were shocked to discover their 17-month-old daughter multiple bite marks on her face and the daycare clueless as to their source.
The girl attends the Brightside Academy, a childcare provider in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Doctors assured the parents that the bite marks, while painful, aren’t serious.
Action News visited the academy for answers but were directed to call the corporate office when the requested to speak with the person in charge. Brightside Academy Divisional Vice President Penny Swift was eventually contacted by phone but simply stated that they were aware of the incident and it was under investigation.
Previous Incidents Recorded at the Daycare
This is the fifth time the child has been bitten at the daycare, and her parents are concerned that nothing seems to have been done in response to the issue.
Inspection records discovered on the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ website indicated that last March there was another incident showing lack of supervision in which a child cut her own hair.
This and other violations cited within the inspections claim correction, but parents of the 17-month-old girl remain concerned about the lack of supervision.
