18-Wheeler Struck Car on Texas Highway – Two People Killed

Two people were killed on Monday, July 7, when a tractor-trailer struck their car along a Texas Highway.

About the Deadly Accident

According to the KWTX, the accident happened when the car exited Highway 83 into FM 281, and drove into the path of the 18-wheeler truck.

The car, a Chevrolet Equinox, was driving northbound in Ochiltree County in the northeast corner of the Panhandle.

Fernando Ortiz, 56, and his wife Leticia Ortiz, 49, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver, 49-year-old Billy Gene Schwandt of Johnson City, Tennessee, was not hurt.
