19-Year-Old Found Guilty in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Destiny Baker3 years ago

A Washington County jury has found 19-year-old Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros guilty of felony charges in connection to a fatal hit-and-run that left two young girls dead in Forest Grove, Oregon.

About the Fatal Hit and Run

According to FOX News, Cisneros was traveling home on October 20 with her boyfriend, Mario Echeverria, and younger brother when she drove through a pile of leaves that had been raked up near curb for leave pick-up. Upon driving through the leaves, Cisneros stated that she felt a bump, but continued driving to her home on the next block.

As her younger brother passed back by the scene on his bike minutes later, he found Tom Robinson standing over the pile of leaves screaming. Cisneros’ brother learned that Robinson’s daughters, step-sisters Abigail Robinson, 11, and Anna Dieter-Eckerdt, 6, had been run over as they were playing in the leaves.

Cisneros’ brother then rushed home to tell his sister of the accident who, in turn, failed to return to the scene or report her possible involvement to the authorities.

Anna was pronounced dead at the scene, Abigail died shortly after arriving to a Portland hospital.

Teen Found Guilty in Connection to Fatal Hit-and-Run

  • According to Cisneros’ attorney, the teenager was in shock and could not comprehend that she was possible responsible for the children’s deaths.
  • Cisneros told jurors that upon inspecting her Nissan Pathfinder, her and her boyfriend had found no blood or damage. Echeverria drove the SUV through a car wash the next day – he pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution.
  • Prosecutors claimed that when approached by detectives the day after the accident, Cisneros failed to fully disclose the events of the accident and did not mention feeling the bump as she passed through the leaves.
  • The Washington County Jury deliberated for less than two hours before finding Cisneros guilty of felony charges including two counts of failure to perform the duties of a driver.

Sentencing has been set for January 31.
