2 Dead, 2 Injured in Corpus Christi Crash

According to KIII-TV, the Department of Public Safety claims that a fatal accident which caused two deaths last Tuesday may have been caused by a medical problem suffered by the driver of a pickup truck.

About the Corpus Christi Accident

The accident occurred in Corpus Christi when investigators say a 26-year old male drove on the wrong side of the road on east of FM 624. He then crashed into another vehicle carrying 4 people, two of whom were declared dead at the scene.

The victims were 26-year old Rita Lynn Alegria and 42-year old Amy Alaniz Puga. An 11-year old child was injuries and was transported to Driscoll Children's Hospital.

The other surviving passenger, a 24-year old, was taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.

The driver of the pickup survived the accident and is in stable condition. Investigators claim he has been suffers from seizures and may have suffered a black out which caused the crash.

  • Using available crash data for the year, TxDOT estimates on person was killed in an auto accident every 2 hours and 36 minutes in 2013.
