2 Dead in Fort Worth Pedestrian Accident

Two pedestrians were killed in Fort Worth Monday morning when they were struck by a vehicle on Main Street.

About the Fatal Dallas Accident

According to the Brownsville Herald, the man and woman were on Main Street near Loop 820 when they were hit by an SUV just before dawn.

Authorities believe the pickup truck either broke down or ran out of gas. The vehicle was found near the scene.

The driver of the SUV stopped and remained at the scene until authorities arrived. No charges have been filed at this time.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):

  • 3,377 traffic fatalities were recorded in Texas in 2013 – a 1.05-percent decrease from the 3,413 deaths recorded in 2012.
  • Pedestrians accounted for 485 traffic fatalities in 2013 and 48 pedalcyclists were killed in traffic collisions.
  • Another 232,041 people were injured in auto accidents with 89,270 people sustaining serious injuries.
  • TxDOT estimates one person was killed in an auto accident every 2 hours and 36 minutes and one person was injured every 2 minutes and 16 seconds.
