2 Dead, Several Injured in Harris County Crash

A woman and her 15-year-old son died after being involved in a three-vehicle wreck in Harris County on Tuesday night.

About the Fatal Wreck

According to the San Antonio Express-News, the wreck happened at about 8:15 on Tuesday night on the westbound Beltway 8-North near Antoine.

Sgt. Mike Harvey, of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, said a 17-year-old boy driving a Dodge pickup truck ran a red light, slamming into a family inside a Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe rolled into two other vehicles that were on the opposite side of the road.

The 15-year-old died at the scene. The mother, a 34-year-old woman, was flown via LifeFlight to the local hospital, Memorial Hermann. She passed away in the hospital. Both the father and the family’s other child were rushed to the hospital; however, their injuries and conditions have not been released yet.

The driver of the pickup was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. His injuries were not released, but he is said to be in critical condition. The two women in one of the vehicles the Tahoe rolled into were taken to Houston Northwest Hospital. They are expected to survive, but their injuries were not released.

Three other people injured by the crash were treated by EMS on the scene.

The crash is currently under investigation.

  • An additional 232,599 people were killed in auto accidents with 16,807 people suffering serious injury.
