2 Killed, 1 Injured from Wall Collapse
On Monday, three construction workers, 60-year old Donald Starling, 68-year old Hollis Morris, and 45-year old Rodney Morris were working to reinforce a 30-foot section of a concrete wall, when the wall came crashing down, killing Donald Starling and Hollis Morris, and injuring Rodney Morris.
About the Incident
Near Lake Jacksonville in East Texas, the three construction workers, Starling, Morris, and Morris’ son Rodney Morris were installing reinforcing steel onto a 12- to 15-foot tall concrete wall that was one foot thick, news outlets reported. The wall unexpectedly came down on all three of the construction workers. However, the wall only hit the bottom part of Rodney Morris’ body, to which he survived. Donald Starling and Hollis Morris died immediately upon impact.
When the wall crashed down, workers rushed to dig the lower half of Rodney Morris’ body out from under the concrete. Morris said, after the accident, “…everybody out there be just as careful as you possibly can because you never know when it's coming.”
