20 Children Injured in Virginia Bus Crash

20 children were injured Tuesday morning after a school bus crashes lost control and crashed into a tree along U.S. 250 in Churchville, Virginia.

About the Churchville School Bus Accident

According to News Leader, the bus was carrying 35 students enrolled at Churchville Elementary, Beverly Manor Middle School, and Buffalo Gap High School when the accident occurred. Authrorities were notified of the incident shortly after 7:30 am.

Preliminary reports indicate the bus was traveling east when it lost control after coming into contact with a concrete barrier. The bus then sideswiped a tree before colliding head-on with another tree.

The bus driver, Daniel W. Dull, 65, was seriously injured and taken to a hospital by helicopter. Of the 35 students on the bus, 20 were sent to the hospital. All but one student have been discharged.

According to police scanner, the school bus driver was distracted as he was tending to commotion on the bus.
