2007-2008 Acuras Recalled- Fire Hazard

Ruben Tyler Kendrick4 years ago

Honda (American Honda Motor Company) is recalling 62,615 model year 2007 and 2008 Acura TL’s due to power steering issues which could cause an under-hood vehicle fire.

About the Acura TL Recall

Honda is recalling a number of model year 2007-2008 Acura TL’s due to premature deterioration of the power steering hose caused by prolonged power steering and under-hood fluid temperatures. According to the official recall notice, this deterioration can result in cracks in the power steering hose and leakage of the power steering fluid onto the catalytic converter which could in turn lead to an under-hood fire.

Information for Acura TL Owners

  • To fix this issue, Honda is going to notify owners and install a heat resistant power steering hose free of charge.
  • The safety recall is expected to begin around June 15th 2012.
  • Hondas recall number is S39.
  • Customers can contact Honda’s customer service at 1-800-999-1009, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit the NHTSA website at http://www.safecar.gov.
