3 Hospitalized After New Braunfels Crash

Two people were airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio and a third person was transported to Christus Santa Rosa of New Braunfels following an early morning crash in New Braunfels on Sunday.

Details of the New Braunfels Collision

KSAT reports that the collision occurred at the intersection of Loop 337 and River Road around 3:15 am Sunday. Preliminary reports suggest a Jeep that was heading north on Loop 337 before turning left in front of a Toyota Avalon that was traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Jeep and an occupant of the Toyota were both airlifted to University Hospital.  Another occupant of the Toyota was transported to Christus Santa Rosa of New Braunfels.

None of those involved in the collision sustained life-threatening injuries. Authorities are still investigating the accident.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):

  • 3,377 traffic related deaths were recorded in Texas in 2013 – a 1.05-percent decrease from the 3,413 deaths reported in 2012.
  • 767 of those deaths were attributed to collisions that occurred at or in relation to an intersection.
  • Another 232,041 people were injured in auto accidents with 89,270 people suffering serious injuries.
  • TxDOT estimates a reportable crash occurred in Texas every 71 seconds in 2013.
