3 Killed, 20 Injured in Knoxville Bus Crash

Three people were killed and nearly two dozen others were injured Tuesday after two school buses collided in Knoxville, Tennessee.

About the Knoxville Bus Crash

According to Reuters, the fatal collision occurred on Ashville Highway around 3 pm Tuesday afternoon.

Preliminary reports obtained by People suggest the crash occurred when one of the buses made a sharp left turn, crossing over a concrete median before hitting the second bus which was travelling the opposite direction.

Authorities have determined that the buses served Chilhowee Intermediate School and Sunnyview Preimary School. Two young children and a teacher’s aid were killed in the accident.

Another 20 children were transported to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for treatment – none of their injuries were determined to be life-threatening.

The children on the buses were in third grade or below.
