Ruben Tyler Kendrick4 years ago

More than two dozen 9- and 10-year-olds were injured in a single accident involving four different school buses in Parsippany, New Jersey earlier this month. The children were on their way from summer camp to an amusement park when the accident occurred.

Accident Involved Four School Buses

The accident occurred in I-80 between Tannersville, Pa and Jackson, New Jersey on Thursday (June 28, 2012). According to reports, one bus rear ended another, causing the main accident. It remains unclear how the other two buses were involved but they too were damaged in the crash. A total of 39 children and two adults were injured in the accident, which remains under investigation.

School Bus Accidents- Who is to Blame?

School bus accidents may be caused by a number of factors- from bus driver fatigue and driving error to vehicle malfunction or even bad roadway design. Depending on the cause of the accident, a number of parties could be to blame.

School bus drivers could be liable for the injuries sustained by their passengers if the crash was caused by driver error, the school (or summer camp in this case) could be liable if they hired an unfit driver, and the manufacturer of the bus could be responsible if the bus was defectively designed or damaged.

School bus crashes can lead to serious injuries for children. It remains unclear what caused the New Jersey accident and liability/blame will not be assigned until the crash is fully investigated.
