390,657 Continental Tires Recalled

Christina Houghton6 years ago

Continental Tire The Americas, LLC is voluntarily recalling an estimated 390,657 tires due to potential separation of the belt edges which could lead tread belt separation. This separation drastically increases the risk of a crash.

Continental said it will replace the recalled tires, beginning March of 2011, free of charge. The recall affects owners of Ford F-250s and Ford F-350s.

Tires Affected by the Recall

Continental said that the production dates of the recalled tires were from May 6, 2007 – September 20, 2008. The tires being recalled include:

  • CONTINENTAL / CONTITRAC / LT275/70R18 125/122S
  • CONTINENTAL / CONTITRAC TR BSW / LT275/70R18 125/122S
  • CONTINENTAL / CONTITRAC TR OWL / LT275/70R18 125/122S

The tires affected were installed as original equipment on some model year 2008 and 2009 Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks. According to Continental Tires, some of the tires may experienced uneven wear, vibration, or particularly under conditions of overloading or under inflation in high ambient temperature usage, separation between belt edges.
