5 Injured in San Antonio Crash

Five people were sent to the hospital following multi-vehicle accident along Interstate 35 in downtown San Antonio Sunday morning.

About the San Antonio Car Crash

According to KSAT, the accident occurred around 2:30 am in the northbound lanes of I-35 near the San Marcos exit.

A driver had stopped on the highway in attempt to avoid debris and was rear-ended by another vehicle.

Shortly after, a third vehicle collided with the two cars. In total, five people were taken to the hospital.

The names of those involved in the accident have not been released, and police have not indicated whether any charges will be filed.

  • A total of 3,377 traffic related deaths were reported in Texas in 2013.
  • Of those, 767 were attributed to auto accidents that occurred in an intersection, 1,883 deaths occurred in rural areas, and 523 deaths were linked to head-on collisions.
  • Another 232,041 people were injured in traffic collisions and 89,270 people suffered serious injury.
  • Based on available information, TxDOT estimates:
    • One person was killed in an auto accident every 2 hours and 36 minutes.
    • One person was injured every 2 minutes and 16 seconds.
    • A reportable crash occurred every 71 seconds.
