Five people in San Antonio, including a three-year-old, have been hospitalized after their car hits a utility pole.

About the Accident with the Utility Pole

On Monday morning, five people were hospitalized – including a three-year-old boy after a crash on San Antonio’s West Side of town.

The San Antonio Express-News has reported that a sedan that was transporting five people was driving down the 6300 block of Enrique Barrera near Old Highway 90 around 12:10 p.m., when the female driver failed to slow down for a truck that had stopped to make a turn off the main road.

In order to avoid hitting the truck, the driver swerved at the last minute and lost control of the vehicle, which then barreled into a nearby utility pole.

According to San Antonio Police Department Sergeant Steve Priore, all five passengers in the vehicle were taken to University Hospital, with at least one of them suffering serious injuries.

The impact on the utility pole from the accident caused the some of the power lines to drop slightly over the road. Emergency officials had to temporarily close the road in order to repair the downed power lines.
