60 Minutes Correspondent, Bob Simon Killed in Car Accident

60 Minutes correspondent, Bob Simon was killed in a fatal car accident on the West Side Highway in New York on Wednesday.

Details of the Fatal Accident

According to the Washington Post, Simon was in a Lincoln Town Car when his driver lost control and hit a Mercedes Benz. New York police report the Lincoln then ran into a metal median separating traffic on the highway.

The driver of the Lincoln is in stable condition, while the other driver did not sustain any injuries. Simon was rushed to the Sinai Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan after sustaining injuries to the torso and head. He died at the hospital. Simon was 73. 

Bob Simon reported on the grounds in Vietnam and was even once captured by Saddam Hussein’s soldiers in Iraq. Simon worked for CBS New since 1967.
