7-Year-Old Dies Due to Injuries from DUI Accident

A 7-year-old who was hospitalized after an accident has been pronounced dead.

Details about the Fatal Accident

WTXL News is reporting that a 7-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after being involved in a weekend accident in which another person – a 32-year-old woman was killed. The boy then died later on at the hospital.

According to troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol, the boy was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, when Jessica Nichole Leach was attempting to travel across the intersection of County Road 158 and County Road 249 just after midnight on Sunday.

Another vehicle hit the front passenger side of Leach’s vehicle, cause it to rollover and hit a utility pole, according to troopers.

The Florida Highway Patrol has indicated that alcohol was a factor in the accident, but they are still investigating whether or not the driver who hit Leach’s vehicle had been drinking at the time of the accident.

The young boy was pronounced dead on Monday.
