8 Killed in Florida Church Van Crash

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that has left at least eight people dead and another 10 people injured just after midnight on Monday.

Details of the Florida Accident

Fox News reports that 18 people were in the van that crashed at a Glades County intersection around 12:30 am, Monday. Investigators state the van ran a stop sign before crossing all lanes of U.S. 27 and landing in a canal.

The driver and seven passengers were confirmed dead, and the 10 other occupants were rushed to area hospitals with at least two of the occupants being classified as trauma alerts. The other passengers were listed in various conditions from serious to stable.

Authorities are still trying to determine why the van crashed into the ditch, but have stated that the area was not foggy at the time of the incident. The names of those involved have not been released.
