Accident in Hill County Leaves Two Family Members Dead

CBS-DFW reports that a fatal accident in Hill County leaves a family without a father and daughter. The accident occurred Sunday night just outside of Hillsboro near the intersection of Highway 22 and FM 309.

About the Hill County Accident

The accident left two family members dead, a father and a daughter. The other two members of the family are in critical condition. The Texas Department of Public Safety reports show that the family was in a Ford Fusion and got struck from behind by a Chevrolet Suburban that Sunday night. 

The 44-year-old father and his 3-year-old daughter were pronounced dead, while the other two family members were rushed to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital. The driver of the family's Fusion, a 32- year-old mother and her 6-year-old daughter were taken to the hospital as well.

The driver of the Suburban was a 28-year-old woman who failed the slam on her brakes, according to Texas DPS troopers. She was also taken to the hospital. The Texas DPS trooper says there are no signs of alcohol in the case of the fatal car crash.

  • TxDOT estimates one person was killed in an auto accident every 2 hours and 36 minutes.
