Alcohol Factor in Laredo Accident That Claimed Two Lives

Reports show that alcohol played a role in a fatal car accident that claimed to lives in Laredo, Texas.

About the Laredo Drunk Driving Accident

According to KGNS, the accident occurred at the intersection of Cuatro Vientos Rd and Sierra Vista in December of 2014.

Reports indicate two women, identified as Rosalinda Lugo and Cynthia Magaña, were killed when the Chrysler sedan they were passengers in was t-boned by a Chevrolet Silverado.

The driver of the Chrysler, identified as Jose Pedro Gallegos, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Gallegos was arrested and charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle.

  • In 2012, 33,561 people were killed in auto accidents. This marked a 3.3-percent increase over 2011 when 32,479 traffic-related deaths were recorded.
  • Of the deaths recorded in 2012, 21,667 (64.5 percent) occurred in passenger vehicles.
  • In 2012, alcohol was determined to be a factor in 10,322 traffic fatalities.
