All American Meats Recalls 167,000 Pounds of Beef
More than a dozen Nebraska and Council Bluffs stores have recalled meat from Omaha supplier included in E.Coli outbreak.
About the Meat Recall
According to KCCI, he U.S. Department of Agriculture issued a nationwide recall last week for more than 167,000 pounds of All American Meats Inc. ground beef products for possible E. coli contamination.
More than a dozen Nebraska and Council Bluffs stores eliminated meat from an Omaha-based processing facility called All American Meats
The USDA has issued a list of more than 100 retailers in 20 states that may have tainted meat on their shelves.
Anyone in possession of tainted meat should return or discard it.
Foodborne Disease Statistics
The following information was provided by the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
- Foodborne diseases resulted in 29,444 cases of illness, 1,184 hospitalizations, and 23 deaths in 2009 and 2010.
- E. coli was responsible five deaths during these outbreaks.
- E. coli from beef resulted in 46 hospitalizations.
