According to ABC 6 news, a Warwick police officer was hit by an alleged drunk driver late Saturday night.

ABC 6 News is reporting that the police officer was on the job when he was directing traffic at an intersection due to a power outage that happened in the area. 64-year-old Thomas Horne of Warwick was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol when he hit the officer near the intersection of Warwick Avenue and Sandy Lane. The officer was taken to the Rhode Island Hospital where he was treated and later released. Horne was charged with Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test and Driving Under the Influence.
