Suspect Pays $751,000 Bond

KLTV reports that 22-year-old Shelby Taylor was released from jail on Friday after posting a $751,000 bond.

The Rusk County District Attorney’s Office currently has three charges of intoxication manslaughter filed against Taylor in connection with a fatal accident that claimed the lives of Rudra Patel, 5, Trisha Patel, 12, and Heena Patel, 43.

DPS claims Taylor was behind the wheel of an oil field truck when she drove southbound in the northbound lane of Loop 259 and collided with the victims’ van near Gregg County.

The driver of the van, father and husband Ketanbhai Patel, 42, attempted to avoid the truck, but was unable to get out of the way in time. He was the only occupant of the van to survive the collision.

In addition to the manslaughter charges, Taylor is also facing other charges, including DWI from 2013.
