Anti-Drunk Driving Organizations Take a Stand This Week

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and The Council On Alcohol and Drug Abuse have organized events to further awareness about the consequences of drunk driving set for this week.

MADD Day of Remembrance This Thursday

According to KRIS-TV, MADD has organized a national event to honor those who have been killed or injured in drunk driving crashes, with their launch of the MADD Day of Remembrance.

This Thursday, December 10th, will mark the first MADD National Day of Remembrance.

The Council On Alcohol and Drug Abuse is holding a “Safe And Sober Kick-Off” event this Friday.

Both organizations encourage everyone to not drink and drive this holiday season.

Drunk Driving Statistics

According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD):

  • The rate of drunk driving is highest among 21 to 25 year olds.
  • Every two minutes a person is injured in a drunk driving crash.
  • On average 2 in 3 people will be involved in a drunk driving accident in their lifetime
  • In America an average of 28 people die in a drunk driving accident daily
  • Drunk driving costs each adult in the United States almost $800 a year
