Lilit Ishxan Gevorgyan, a 16-year-old Armenian foreign exchange student, died in an ATV accident in Nacogdoches County, Texas last Monday.

About the Fatal ATV Accident

According to the ArmenPress, Gevorgyan was riding on private property along County Road 425 in Nacogdoches County. When she failed to return home later that evening, both her guardian and another girl went searching for her. They found the ATV rolled up on top of her in a pasture.

Gevorgyan was rushed to a Nacogdoches hospital where she later died.

Sheriff Jason Bridges, of Nacogdoches County, believes that Gevorgyan lost control of her ATV while riding on the side of a hill. David Perkins, Justice of the Peace of Nacogdoches County, has ordered an autopsy.

The following official statement form the US Embassy of Armenia was issued after her death:

“We are inexpressibly sorry to report that a FLEX student from Armenia was killed in an ATV accident on the evening of August 24. All involved parties are working to return her home as soon as possible. Our deepest condolences are with Lilit’s family and friends. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not release additional information at this time.”
