At Least 11 Injured in Prisoner Transport Accident

A prisoner transport from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department was carrying at least ten prisoners when it was involved in an accident on Tuesday.

CBSDFW News is reporting that a Tarrant County Sheriff’s transport that was carrying ten prisoners was involved in an accident in Fort Worth on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators that responded to the scene of the accident say that a white SUV somehow crashed into the back end of the prisoner transport van. Emergency crews that responded confirmed that they had a total of 13 people that were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

According to the authorities, there were nine people who suffered minor injuries and another four that were treated for more moderate injuries. Most of the injuries have been describes as back and knee pain, and at least two of the patients may have suffered from minor fractures.

The van was transporting the prisoners to the Greenbay unit in the northern part of Fort Worth.

The off-ramp from Interstate 35 West to Meacham Boulevard was closed while crews responded to the scene of the accident.
