Jeffrey J. Smith

Profile Summary

Mr. Jeffrey J. Smith is a litigation attorney at Thomas J. Henry.

Prior to his hire at Thomas J. Henry, Jeffrey J. Smith was in private practice for 21 years handling a wide array of legal matters both in litigation and transaction-related work.

He honed his trial lawyer skills as a criminal defense attorney, leading to renowned success in that field.  His civil practice included personal injury, wrongful death, construction accidents, oil and gas litigation, real estate litigation, bad faith insurance, governmental entity liability, administrative law before governmental entities such as the Department of Labor, wills and estate litigation, and contract disputes.  Further, he reviewed and drafted real estate purchase and sale contracts and related instruments, organized entities, drafted wills and trusts, and handled a host of other transactional matters.

His strength as a lawyer is the breadth and depth of his legal work.

On a personal note, as the son of longtime National Football League player and coach Jerry Smith, Jeffrey followed his father’s path and played professional football in the USFL and CFL from 1984 – 1993.  He attended law school after his football career ended at Baylor University School of Law.

Jeff has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and a Master of Business Administration from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Jeff continues his athletic life today, running and playing golf, and particularly enjoys spending time with his nieces and nephews and watching them grow and mature.  His family and faith are the most important parts of his life.
