Sharon Breckenridge Thomas
Ms. Sharon Breckenridge Thomas is a litigation associate at Thomas J. Henry Law.
Prior to joining Thomas J. Henry Law, Ms. Thomas was an attorney in private practice in San Antonio, Texas. Her law office advised nonprofit corporations and companies on governance, acquisitions, labor/employment law, and alternate dispute resolution. Before entering private practice, Ms. Thomas was a civilian J.A.G. attorney with the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Department where she spent more than 15 years representing the U.S. Government in labor and employment law matters. In her final assignment with the Air Force, Ms. Thomas served as the Division Chief of the Class Action Litigation Division, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, San Antonio Air Logistics Center. In this capacity, she managed a litigation support office and successfully defended the U.S. Government in complex class action litigation.
While with the Air Force, Ms. Thomas was appointed to serve as Visiting Law Faculty at the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General School, George C. Dickinson Law Center in Alabama. She taught courses in labor and employment law, civil rights and civil procedure. She has taught at St. Mary’s University School of Law in Texas. She also served as Visiting Law Faculty at Liberty University School of Law in Virginia where she taught complex litigation, legal writing and trial advocacy. Ms. Thomas is sought after and recognized internationally as a speaker on global labor and humanitarian issues. She has presented and published papers in the United States, China, the Middle East (Egypt) and Europe. Ms. Thomas is a member of the Congress of Fellows – Center for International Legal Studies, in Salzburg, Austria and the International Bar Association.
In 2013, she was appointed by Governor Perry to serve a two-year term as a Commissioner on the Texas Commission on Human Rights (TCHR). In 2017, Governor Abbot appointed Ms. Thomas to a five-year term as a Commissioner on the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is licensed to practice before the Northern, Southern, and Western Federal District Courts of Texas. Ms. Thomas is also licensed to practice before the Fifth Circuit and Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. She is board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Ms. Thomas was born in Bitburg, Germany and has lived all over the world. In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her husband, Bryan, and their three adult children.
