William Wood Meeks
San Antonio-born and native Texan Mr. William Wood Meeks joined Thomas J. Henry in January 2019 as a Litigation Attorney Manager. He is licensed to practice in both Texas and Louisiana.
Mr. Meeks is a veteran litigator with over 17 years of legal experience in state and federal courts; he has extensive first-chair trial experience in the practice areas of personal injury law, labor and employment law, constitutional law, family law, criminal law, social security disability, bankruptcy, copyright/ trademark, wills and probate, commercial/ transactional, appellate advocacy, and as a hearing officer presiding over state/ federal benefits claims.
In 2001, Mr. Meeks obtained his J.D. from LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center in Baton Rouge; he was a team leader for LSU’s ABA Law Student Negotiations Competition, a charter member and club officer for the LSU Law School Chapter of the ACLU, and a 1999 summer study abroad program participant at the University of Provence Aix-Marseille in southern France. While in Europe, Mr. Meeks participated in the Festival of Saint Fermín‘s annual “Running with the Bulls” in Pomplona, Spain. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University at College Station and holds a B.A. in History. He also studied Spanish while briefly living in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
Mr. Meeks has dedicated many years of civic service as a volunteer for CASA and as a veteran’s advocate in his position as council elder with the National Native American Veteran’s Association. A former national and Texas registered guardian, he has continued his support of the intellectual/ developmental disability community as a pro bono advocate and Special Olympics volunteer.
A dedicated father to his young son, Mr. Meeks is also a published poet and photographer, an avid outdoorsman, and collector/ purveyor of military antiquities. On weekends, he resides at his home in Wimberley, Texas.
