Andres V. Garza

Mr. Andres V. Garza earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, where he was named to the Dean’s List. He attended undergraduate school at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Government and Mexican American Studies.

Mr. Garza distinguished himself as an advocate throughout law school. He served as Captain of the National Alternative Dispute Resolution Team, finishing as first runner-up at the 2022 National Sports Law Negotiation Competition and advancing to the regional finals of the 2022 ABA Negotiations Competition. St. Mary’s recognized him as its 2022 Outstanding Negotiator and honored him for Excellence in Litigation and Advocacy. He was also a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society and served as a research assistant to Dean Alan Haynes, conducting legal research and analysis for the Dean’s writing projects.

Mr. Garza held several leadership roles during his studies. He served as President of the Hispanic Law Student Association and as Director of Membership for the National Latina/o Law Student Association, where he worked with more than 190 law schools to grow their Latino law student chapters and helped organize the National Latino Law Conference. He also co-founded and served as President of the Longhorn Bar Association.

Before joining Thomas J. Henry Law, Mr. Garza clerked for a Houston civil litigation firm, drafting pleadings, motions, demand letters, and discovery requests and preparing memoranda for his supervising attorney. He previously served as an advanced planning law clerk with Lone Star Legal Aid, drafting estate planning documents and working directly with clients. Mr. Garza also spent several years with the Texas House of Representatives as a legislative aide and district office aide, consulting with constituents on their legislative priorities and advocating on their behalf to resolve individual concerns.

Since joining the firm, Mr. Garza has focused his practice on the representation of clients injured in car accidents, trucking accidents, premises liability accidents, and workplace accidents.

Mr. Garza has a long record of community service. He received the State Bar of Texas Pro Bono College Award and helped develop the High School Street Law Program, partnering with local high schools to teach basic legal principles and teaching a lesson plan on Hernandez v. Texas in San Antonio classrooms. He has volunteered with San Antonio Legal Services wills execution clinics, the San Antonio Food Bank, and served as a mentor with the Summer Law and Leadership Camp.
