Jay Rhoden

Mr. Jay Rhoden obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech School of Law.
Following graduation from law school, Mr. Rhoden worked for an attorney in his hometown of Kerrville, Texas and then took a position in the legal department of the Texas Railroad Commission in Austin. In 1996, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by joining the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he served for the next twenty-three years. In addition to conducting complex federal investigations, Mr. Rhoden also served for several years as FBI legal counsel. In this capacity, Mr. Rhoden was responsible for handling a wide variety of legal matters. These responsibilities included reviewing cases for legal sufficiency, advising agents on the legality of investigative methods, assisting the United States Attorney’s Office with sensitive investigations, preparing agents for trial, and dealing with civil suits filed against the government.
Mr. Rhoden also regularly provided legal training to FBI personnel on topics such as ethics, search and seizure, qualified immunity, and the proper use of force. Mr. Rhoden was often recognized for his hard work, dedication, and ability to relate to others. He received several awards throughout his career including the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service in 2005.
Following his retirement from the FBI in 2019, Mr. Rhoden joined the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. While serving as an Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Rhoden worked on both civil and criminal matters. Mr. Rhoden litigated cases, negotiated case resolutions, drafted pleadings, and reviewed new cases.
Mr. Rhoden is proud to now be working at the Thomas J Henry Law Firm where he brings his combination of legal and investigative experience to help clients on a daily basis. In his spare time, Mr. Rhoden enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
