Authorities Investigate Fatal Robstown Crash

Robstown police are continuing their investigation of an accident that left one man dead last Wednesday.

About the Fatal Robstown Accident

According to KRIS-TV, the accident occurred on May 27 around 7:30 p.m. on Business 77.

Witnesses told police that a motorcycle was speeding behind an 18-wheeler with both of them tried to merge lanes. 

The motorcyclist then lost control of his bike and hit the 18-wheeler.

Currently, the truck driver is not facing any charges. Police expect to release more information about the deadly accident Thursday.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):

  • The fatality rate on Texas roadways for 2013 was 1.40 deaths per hundred million vehicle miles traveled. This is a 2.78% decrease from 2012.
  • Texas experienced a decrease in the number of motor vehicle traffic fatalities. The 2013 death toll of 3,377 was a decrease of 1.05% from the 3,413 deaths recorded in 2012. 
  • TxDOT estimates a reportable crash occurred every 71 seconds in 2013
