Authorities Investigate Franklin Trucking Accident

One person is dead and another is in serious condition following a trucking accident along Highway 79, roughly three miles south of Franklin, Texas.

Details of the Fatal Accident

According to KBTX, the collision occurred 6:15 am when a Chevy pickup crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck head-on by a 2013 Peterbilt Truck.

The driver of the tractor-trailer had to be extracted from his vehicle by emergency crews – he is listed in serious condition at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway was closed following the accident and reopened around 10:30 am.

Authorities are still investigating the incident, and the identities of those involved have not be released.
