A pedestrian was seriously injured in an accident that happened in the Baltimore area.

Fox News Baltimore is reporting that a pedestrian was hit on Monday evening when she stepped out in front of a vehicle on Glen Burnie Street, which police have described as dark and lacking necessary street lighting. At this time, the woman remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police from Anne Arundel County responded to the scene of the accident just before 11 p.m., which happened on Andover Road, near Broadview Boulevard. Witnesses of the accident say they saw a Volkswagen Passat heading north when a pedestrian stepped out into the lane of travel in front of the vehicle. The pedestrian was hit and thrown forward into the road.

The woman was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital with life-threatening. The driver was not injured and remained at the scene of the accident.
