The Belton High School student who was killed in an accident has been identified by authorities.

Details about the Fatal Accident

KWTX News is reporting that a school official from Belton High School has identified a 16-year-old student from the school who was killed on Saturday when he was attempting to pass a vehicle in a no passing zone, and his vehicle was hit by the trailer of an 18-wheeler.

The school’s principal identified the student as sophomore Alexander AJ Howard.

Police report that they responded to the scene of the accident at about 3:45 p.m. along Highway 317 and FM 2483 in Temple. Howard, who was driving a 2008 Hyundai, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

An investigation into the circumstances and the cause of the accident remains ongoing at this time. The driver of the truck was not injured and is not expected to face any charges at this time.
