Ben Carson Campaign Volunteer from Texas Dies in Car Wreck

A Texas Tech student who was volunteering for Dr. Ben Carson’s presidential campaign has died following a car accident on Tuesday in Iowa.

Details about the Fatal Car Accident in Iowa

25-year-old Braden Joplin was a volunteer from Texas Tech who was working as a volunteer for Ben Carson’s presidential campaign has passed away following a car accident on Tuesday in Iowa.

According to the New York Daily News, Joplin was pronounced dead at around 4:30 p.m. at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha where he was airlifted following the accident that happened in western Iowa.

After receiving news of the accident, Ben Carson temporarily suspended his campaign. The Carson campaign reported that the van had it a patch of ice on the road that caused it to flip on its side where it was then struck by another vehicle on Interstate 80.

At least three other campaign members were injured in the accident and are being evaluated at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa – about 60 miles east of Omaha.

Carson left South Carolina to be with the family of Joplin in Midland, Texas.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m., and several other accidents have been reported in the same area on Tuesday.
