Lauren Fernandez1 year ago

One adult was killed in Ohio when a Bible school van crashed into a moving train.

About the Fatal Accident

While transporting students to the Church at Mayfield in Middletown, Ohio, a Bible school van crashed through a railway-crossing gate and into the side of a moving freight train on the evening of Tuesday, July 28, reports FOX News. The crash killed one adult female passenger and injured the van diver and nine children.

Jan Martin, 62, was in the front passenger seat of the van and died 2 hours after the accident in Atrium Medical Center in Middletown. Nine children, ranging in age from 7 to 10 years of age, were transported to hospitals along with the female van driver, also 62. None of their injuries were deemed life threatening.

Investigators are trying to determine why the driver crashed the 2002 Ford passenger van through crossing gates and into the train. Ohio State Highway Patrol say that the gates were down and warning lights were activated at the crossing in Middletown as the van approached it.
