Bicyclist Injured After Collision with Winter Park Police Vehicle

A bicyclist was injured after being involved in an accident with a Winter Park police vehicle.

Details about the Police Vehicle Accident

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that a 68-year-old male bicyclist was sent to the hospital after he was hit by a Winter Park police officer on Thursday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Florida Highway Patrol further reports that Officer Edison Williams was stopped in a parking lot of the Aloma Bowl bowling alley near the intersection of Aloma Avenue and Balfour Drive at around 3:30 p.m. according to Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sergeant Kim Montes.

The police officer was getting ready to pull out of the parking lot and make a right turn onto Aloma Avenue, and blocked the sidewalk in front of the business.

The bicyclist, identified as Paul Miller, was riding his bicycle along the sidewalk, when he attempted to ride around the officer’s vehicle when he was hit, according to state troopers.
