Details of the Galveston Accident

Celebrations for Galveston’s Rev. John Paul Flajole’s 50th anniversary as a priest were halted early after the reverend’s younger brother, Raphael Flajole, 62, was fatally struck by a pickup.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Raphael Flajole was among a group of family and friends taking photos near Murdoch’s Souvenirs around 7 am on Sunday.

As the group stood near the stairway of the shop, a red Ford pickup turning onto Seawall Boulavard moved across multiple lanes of traffic and hit the pedestrians, before stopping on the beach.

Raphael Flajole was pronounced dead at the scene, and another pedestrian, 48-year-old Shane Sabala, was rushed to the John Sealy Emergency Room.

The driver of the truck, 49-year-old Kevin Wade Wilson, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault.
