1 Dead, 26 Injured in South California Charter Bus Crash

One person was killed and 26 others were injured when a charter bus traveling from Fresno to Las Vegas crossed into oncoming traffic and struck two vehicles.

Details of the California Charter Bus Crash

According to US News, the crash occurred on State Route 58 near Kramer, Texas, roughly 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles, California. The deceased was described as a 55-year-old woman who was in one of the two cars the bus hit.

Nine people sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash, and 17 others were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The bus was owned by A&F tours Inc. of Arcadia, California and seats roughly 30 passengers. The company did have a vehicle taken out of service following a regular inspection; however, the the company did not report any crashes over the past two years.

The crash remains under investigation.

  • Transit buses accounted for 33 percent of all bus accident recorded between 2004 and 2014. Inner city buses account for 13 percent of bus accidents.
  • From 2009 to 2014, the number of injury related crashes involving buses and large trucks increased by 55 percent.
